Job Title: Material Handler Technician

Reports to: Production Manager/Assistant Production Manager

Position Overview:
The Material Handler Technician plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within our facility. This position is responsible for moving parts and materials within the facility and to our secondary location nearby. Additionally, the role includes running errands for the shop and providing cross-functional support to various departments during downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport parts and materials within the facility and between company locations.
  • Run errands for the shop, including picking up and delivering supplies as needed.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining inventory in storage areas.
  • Support other departments with operational tasks during downtime.
  • Ensure all materials are handled in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of material movements and deliveries.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as required.

Performance Metrics:

  • On-Time Delivery Rate: Maintain a 98% or higher on-time delivery rate for inter-facility transport and errands.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Achieve and sustain 95% accuracy in inventory tracking and organization.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to 100% of safety protocols with zero safety violations.
  • Efficiency Rate: Complete assigned material handling tasks within the designated timeframes at 95% efficiency or higher.
  • Cross-Training Utilization: Actively support at least two additional departments during downtime each quarter.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior experience in material handling, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification is a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving materials.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including warehouse and outdoor settings.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position with regular working hours.
  • Occasional overtime may be required based on operational needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in tight spaces, on ladders, and in various shop conditions.

 

Flexibility Requirement:

Due to the dynamic nature of our production process, all employees are expected to be flexible in their work assignments. If there is a temporary shortage of work in your primary department or craft, you may be assigned to assist in other departments or perform tasks outside your usual scope of work. Refusal to accept such assignments may result in being sent home without pay for that period. This ensures continuous workflow and supports overall company productivity.
