TITLE: Medical Assistant/LPN
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Clinic Office Manager/Physician
CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Health Director
STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Kanza Health Clinic, Newkirk
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Medical Assistant and prefer a minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical and/or dental health care environment or related field. Office experience and competent computer skills required. Ability to relate and interact with patients in a professional, friendly and polite manner. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to multi task and work with minimum supervision. Prefer candidate to have some experience in billing and insurance processing. Must have a valid driver’s license.
RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
1. Greet and care for all patients and visitors in a polite and courteous manner at all times. Deal with inquiries both in person and on the telephone in a polite and professional manner.
2. Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to maintain confidentiality of all records and patient information.
3. Schedule appointments and monitor the appointments to maximize available
appointment time.
4. Make copies and keep up-to-date patient’s CDIB, Insurance Cards, and Driver’s License to be placed in the patient’s file.
5. Obtains patient’s medical history and keeps it up to date in the patient’s medical records. Ensure that all notes and information are available to coincide with appointments.
6. Make courtesy calls to avoid patients not showing up for their appointments.
7. Assist patients in referral process.
8. Process insurance claims for payment.
9. Prepare daily reports for Health Director.
10. Monitor inventory and order dental office supplies as needed.
11. Prepare patients in medical exam room.
12. Assist the doctor when needed during patient’s procedures.
13. Follows the instructions of the doctor.
14. Prepares patient for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, reporting patient history summary.
15. Keep the patient’s waiting room and medical exam rooms neat and clean at all times.
16. Assist in organizing and stocking supplies and cleaning medical treatment rooms.
17. Assist other clinic departments when needed.
18. Complete any other duties assigned by immediate/controlling supervisor.
All new hires will be required by the Kaw Nation (post hire) to submit to an employment drug screen. Failure to pass the post hire drug screen will lead to withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment.
