Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and efficient Short Order Cook to join our food service team at a busy travel plaza. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing fast, high-quality meals in a high-traffic environment catering to travelers, truckers, and tourists. You’ll work in a fast-paced kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner items with consistency and attention to food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare made-to-order meals such as burgers, sandwiches, eggs, pancakes, and other short order items.
Operate grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all health and safety standards are met.
Stock and restock stations with necessary supplies.
Communicate effectively with front counter staff and other kitchen team members.
Ensure orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Assist with inventory rotation and food storage.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a short order cook or line cooks preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
Strong time management and communication skills.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
