Pharmacist
TITLE: PHARMACIST
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: HEALTH DIRECTOR
CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: CHAIR OF KAW NATION
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate will possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited pharmacy school and be licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy. Candidate will possess certification/license by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control for Schedule 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 narcotics.
At least two (2) years’ experience in pharmacy practice is preferred. Experience in a Native American healthcare setting is also preferred. Applicant may not have any unresolved malpractice suits pending against him/her and shall not have any unresolved complaints on file in any state where he/she has a license to practice as a pharmacist. Experience with computerized pharmacy records systems preferred. Computer literacy required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pharmacist is assigned the following duties and responsibilities to be performed in collaboration with the pharmacy team:
- Responsible for compounding and dispensing medicines using standard physical and chemical procedures to fill authorized prescriptions.
- Consult with medical staff and make recommendations for the formulary based upon various criteria.
- Maintain adequate stock and control of all medications, including narcotics.
- Verifies validity and checks drugs, dosage, interactions, dosage forms and labels for all prescriptions.
- Provides complete oral instructions and education to patients.
- Compounds bulk medications and prepackaged drugs.
- Supervises pharmacy staff.
- Demonstrates excellent familiarity and capability with third party billing processes and procedures.
- Develops and manages pharmacy program budget.
- Maintains records for inspections, inventory, and audits.
- Maintain Oklahoma licensure.
- Perform other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned by the immediate or controlling supervisor.
