Job Purpose:
• The Production Technologist is a lead position that is responsible for activities related to the production of probiotic formulation blends


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ▪ Lead or conduct activities related to probiotic blending, packaging, shipment, data collection and sample submission.
  • ▪ Probiotic production equipment & area set-up
  • ▪ Cleaning and sanitation of production equipment & areas
  • ▪ Sample collection & submission
  • ▪ Conduct process monitoring checks
  • ▪ Conduct equipment monitoring, verification, and calibration activities (i.e. Temperature checks, balance checks, etc.)
  • ▪ Completion of daily, weekly, monthly checklists as assigned by Supervisor
  • ▪ Inventory of production ingredients and consumables
  • ▪ Packing, shipping & receiving of materials
  • • Accurate completion and review of technical records
  • • Data entry of production data
  • • Cross train in and assist in fermentation operations as needed
  • • Assist in preventive maintenance activities as needed
  • • Lead all activities, direct and be a designated trainer within the probiotic production area
  • • Actively participate in the Food Safety and Quality Programs.
  • • Lead or participate in monthly self-inspections and internal audits.
  • • Develop, update, and maintain SOP’s, work instructions, documentation and forms for operations programs, policies, and procedures.
  • • Assist in the development of client services and product development proposals and reports.
  • • Other duties as required

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education

  • ▪ AA or equivalent course work
  • ▪ Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

 

Specialized Knowledge

  • ▪ Computer Skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ▪ Clear understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and HACCP Principles

Skills

  • ▪ Ability to Follow Written and Verbal Direction
  • ▪ Excellent Written & Verbal Communication Skills

  • • Professional Certification(s)
  • ▪ HACCP Certification
  • ▪ Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Training
  • ▪ SQF Practitioner, a plus

Experience
▪ Minimum 3 years’ experience in food production operations, sanitation, personnel safety, quality assurance, food laboratory, facilities maintenance, or food processing maintenance
▪ 1-year experience in a lead or supervisory role
