Overview: The HR generalist will be involved in all aspects of the employee cycle. This person will be responsible for talent attraction, the hiring process, onboarding process, training and development, and employee engagement and performance.

Job Duties:

  • Talent Acquisition - responsible for the recruiting process, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified candidates for open job positions. The generalist will work with department managers to understand the skills and competencies required for positions, as well as conducting reference checks to ensure candidates are qualified for the position.
  • Onboarding process - ensuring all new hires fill out proper pre-employment paperwork, conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Performs tasks all tasks required for onboarding and benefits administration.
  • Employee Administration – responsible for maintaining accurate employee records both paper and electronically. Will be responsible for keeping records of employees’ hire dates and administering insurance and 401k paperwork at the end of waiting periods. Will be responsible for any updates requested by employees and submitting those updates to proper channels. Keep employee handbooks up to date and relevant with different programs and requirements determined by the company.
  • Payroll – responsible for calculating payroll weekly, sending it to the accounting team, submitting 401k contributions, and doing garnishments.
  • Leaves of absence – will administer leave programs, be responsible for properly classifying and submitting all documentation for different types of leave and working with employees to help navigate things regarding leave of absence.
  • Performance Management – responsible for working with managers on employee reviews as well as employee disciplinary actions. Will work with managers to ensure the proper steps are taken regarding disciplinary actions and all formal verbal and written warnings are detailed, recorded, and kept in employee files. Will put together Performance Improvement Plans for employees who are not meeting expectations. Will be involved in all disciplinary discussions and terminations. Responsible for unemployment claims and disputes.
  • Compliance – responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, managing risk, and updating HR records so they are accurate. Will be responsible for routinely checking compliance of all processes.
  • Training and development – work with supervisors to help them manage their teams, assist with employee training needs and performance plans.
  • Culture and value expert – will work to align organizational values with employee behavior, ensuring that the organization fosters a positive and productive work environment.
