SUMMARY
 
The Warehouse Coordinator plays a vital role in managing incoming shipments, organizing the warehouse, and ensuring the efficient distribution of goods to clients. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to operate a forklift, and a commitment to reducing food waste while prioritizing the needs of the community. The Warehouse Coordinator needs to be an effective communicator, capable of instructing and working alongside volunteers, donors, and clients.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Operations:
  • Process incoming shipments and donations of goods.
  • Organize the warehouse, ensuring proper labeling and storage of food items.
  • Reduce food waste by monitoring expiration and ensuring timely distribution to the community. 
  • Maintain forklift certification and operate the forklift for various warehouse tasks.
  • Handle items weighing up to 50 lbs., ensuring proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
  •  Stock grocery shelves, ensuring an organized and appealing display of food items.
  • Prioritize client needs by promptly assisting them when staff and volunteers are unavailable.
  • Support facility cleanliness and maintenance, working collaboratively with staff to create a welcoming and orderly environment.
Administration:
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and leading a volunteer team to support warehouse operations.
  • Make timely decisions on behalf of the organization and provide clear instructions to others regarding product handling and distribution.
  • Collaborate with the team to improve warehouse processes and optimize operational efficiency.
Community Outreach:
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with volunteers, donors and clients
  • Coordinate and retrieve retail recovery from local businesses.
  • Communicates effectively with businesses who partner with NERA as donors of client supplies
As appropriate, the Warehouse Coordinator will also perform other duties as assigned by the Director. The position's hourly rate is $14 to $15/hour with a 90-day review for a raise. 

 QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in warehouse management or a related field is preferred. Position requires forklift certification/proficiency in operation. Training will be provided as needed. Strong organizational skills, time management and computer skills with the ability to maintain an orderly warehouse are required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with clients, staff and external partners.  Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds is needed to be successful in this position. Experience in leading and instructing volunteer teams is desirable.


 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
 Valid driver’s license required. Forklift truck training provided.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include only those reasonable in a normal retail store, office and warehouse environment with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Fluency in Spanish is not required, but considered a valuable asset.
