TITLE:   Transportation Assistant
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Transportation Director
CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Tribal Chair
TYPE: Regular/Full-time                                               
LOCATION:  Kaw City, OK      
WAGE: $16 - $20 hourly
                   
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. 5+ years’ related experience and/or training required.
Driver’s license. Must obtain CDL within 90 days. Must be 18 years of age or older.  Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction.  Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations and construction sites.  Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions. Ability to read and understand repair manuals, understanding and ability to complete/fill tags and repair orders, Ability to use and learn various diagnostic software used on auto, or heavy equipment. Sit for extended periods; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach at, below and above shoulder level, repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment; lift/move up to 50 pounds. Walk, reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder and horizontally; Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assures adequate maintenance and repair records are maintained for Tribal vehicles and equipment.
  2. Maintains the ability to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and make necessary adjustments on all vehicle systems when needed.
  3. Maintains a thorough knowledge and ability to repair components on all systems including airlines and hydraulic lines, and the ability to operate shop equipment.  Performs trouble shooting and related repairs on Tribal vehicles when needed.  Starts engine, moves throttle, controls, and levers to operate equipment, and attachments including tractor mower, tractor and bush hog, riding mowers, trencher, skid loader and Mini Excavator.
  4. Performs daily inspection of equipment, grease, oils, and performs maintenance and minor repairs.
  5. To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.  Sets up safe work zones and follows safe operations procedures. Provides assistance to other departments as needed.
  6. Collect all material tickets (ex: rock, concrete, and asphalt) Take photos while material is being removed or placed on project site locations.
  7. Must have basic computer skills and typing.  Also needs to know how to use Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, and Apple products.
  8. Do routine route and bridge inspections.
  9. Maintaining all Kaw Nation Parking Lots and adjacent facilities.
  10. Supervise project sites when the Director is unavailable.
  11. GPS, Survey, and map project sites and get RIFDS certified withing 1 year.
